Going to miss my babes...

So this post is going to be about how EXCITED and SAD I am at the same time. I leave this weekend for my annual trip to San Diego, CA. I absolutely have NOT found a more beautiful place to visit in all my life. This trip IS work related but the beauty of San Diego outweighs any work part of it. We are staying in La Jolla (um... can you GET any better - I think NOT!!!) and on the beach at that. I can't wait to hit up the Gaslamp District (Ghiradelli's here I come), have lunch at The Coronado, listen to the beautiful piano playing at La Valencia, sink my face into an In-N-Out Burger, and see some amazing woman who make the trip to San Diego even all the better:)

So with all this being said - I am going to miss my little munchkins. How could you NOT miss these faces:

Now Elle I feel okay with - she can communicate her feelings and I can explain that mommy has to leave and will be back soon. PLUS she loves her daddy/daughter time. But that sweet lipgloss smile will be missed terribly.
Wes, on the other hand, he is still so little and doesn't understand that mommy is leaving for work and WILL be back - he is going to look up at me like this:
and be thinking - WTH Mom???? Awwwwww that sweet chubby cheeked Mister.

Okay so I am going to miss by babes - oh yes and Eric too LOL:) Hello Sunny San Diego (although I have seen you brought hail Ms. Mother Nature - blah.... you better shape up before I get there) and see you soon my sweet little bunnies.

Love like no other...

Today's rant is going to be about my darling husband - LOL:) I have to say that I am truly blessed to have found this man.

He may have been the boy who drank too much at the frat parties, spit raps out about ridiculousness, wandered aimlessly not knowing where to go, asked the question "WHAT?" so many times that this became his nickname, rode a bicycle on campus with a holey green back-pack, liked to fight people for no apparent reason, lived in his own little world, etc... BUT he became an exceptional MAN...

Eric and I met in college and we were friends for about a year before we started dating. He was VERY good friends with my bff Beth and they would hang out often at parties and in the dorm. I found Eric attractive, but I was dating someone at the time and that is as far as it went. He was cute but ooooohhhh so NOT my type. Beth would use my car to pick him up from parties - where he did too many keg stands that he was wandering aimlessly outside. Basically that was all I knew about him - the cute guy who lived a TRUE frat life.

As the year went on - Eric and I became friends (and the old boyfriend and I broke up) and I decided that Eric needed to find a good girl to help "set him on the right path". One night, at Smitty's, I was determined to help him find a girl that was level-headed, going in the "right" direction, and cute too. Well Mr. Eric had different intentions. I told him to find ANY girl in the bar that he found attractive and I would be his "wing woman" - well the next few words out of his mouth (looking back) began our 11 years of being together. Eric's game was spat - he replied with "I have my eye on one girl in here". I was like okay well who - and then the big "YOU" came out of his mouth. BAAAAAAAH HHHHHHHAH - just thinking about it now makes me crack up. His game was so great right? LOL

Well we dated for over 3 years, got engaged and were engaged for 2 years, and now married almost 6 years. I never in my wildest dreams would of imagined Eric would be as loving, caring, and genuine as the man he has become. He LOVES me to pieces and not ONE day goes by that he doesn't remind me of it - by his words, gestures, or just plain look in his eyes. He really is amazing and always make ME feel amazing.

And to sum up my sappy rant on my loving husband - I could NOT have asked for someone to be a better father. His children are his world. He is VERY affectionate to each of them and ALWAYS shows them that expressing your feelings is the BEST way to go. He teaches them that communication is KEY to any relationship and that they could come to HIM with anything and he would NOT judge - he might not like what they have to say but he will love them unconditionally NO MATTER WHAT. He encourages feelings - the feeling to cry, laugh, dance, sing, rap (LOL), be angry, be sad, etc... Elle adores her father and he is "SUPERMAN" to her - he is her everything. Wes lights up when Eric enters a room and crawls right up to him to be held by this strong man. Our kids are blessed to have him as a "daddy".

So today I say to the world - I LOVE MY HUSBAND and the love we share is LOVE LIKE NO OTHER. Thank you God for letting our paths cross and for allowing me to experience TRUE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

Random thoughts today....

So today's post is about NOTHING but a few thoughts that have been running through my head.

1.  How come I sit and daydream the majority of my day away?
2.  Why do I obsess about what I am going to wear this weekend on our sister-in-law night out?
3.  Why do I feel the NEED (yes a real NEED) to buy myself something new?
4.  Why are dinner preparations top of my priority list EVERYDAY?
5.  Why does drama seem to follow certain people?
6.  Should I get my hair professionally done (as I normally do) or should I attempt an "at home" job - save some cash?
7.  Why do certain people make my skin crawl - and why can't I put on my "happy face" and just let it ride?

Okay enough random thoughts... For real today is a whirlwind of "thinking" and not sure why - might be related to the POT of coffee I drank this morning - but it was MIGHTY good...

Side-note:  I put on a pair of pants that hasn't fit in 9 months - YAY!!!!!!! I am starting to feel GOOD and I LOVE IT. So day 9 of my low carb diet and doing great - I am down about 7 lbs. I can't believe just cutting out "sugars" can do that... I am well on my way back to the ole Mel...

Today's Picture - a picture that sums up how I feel....
By the way this is a random pic - NOT ME in the picture..

Weekend FUN...

We had a ton going on this weekend and now it is Monday all over again. So Friday night we had trivia night for our wonderful daycare - The Goddard School. The theme was "Like - totally 80's", we had a blast but totally did not do well - LOL. I think we came in 6th to last, but I met some wonderful parents and we swapped stories of Elle and their children and we laughed our tushies off. I think Ms. Elle is a girl set in HER OWN MIND and I LOVE IT!!!! So after all the laughing and swapping of stories - I will be partaking in "Mom's night out" on April 15th with the other Goddard moms who signed up. We are meeting and having drinks and dinner - YAY!!!! Sorry NO pics from this event.
Saturday it rained. We stayed in and Elle and Wes decided to have a tea party. Elle is REALLY starting to take to Wes now he is mobile and communicating (well with grunts and syllable sounds). She sets up her tea party perfectly and Wes comes and knocks it down - this happens over and over again.

TEA TIME......
So Sunday was our SUPER FUN day. My BFF Bridget who is due in October came by to visit with her son Joey. Elle and Joey ADORE each other and decided that it would be fun to put on a musical show for us. Bridget and I laughed our booties off. We really enjoy getting the kids together and being with one another. We can't wait for Spring/Summer and outside activities. YAY..

Elle and her guitar - I think Wes likes it...

Yes we are watching The Grinch in March - LOL
Then we decided to do Playdoh and Paint for a bit...
Isn't Bridget adorable...
They share so well...
So after Bridget and Joey left - we all took naps - well the kids did and then we visited my sister-in-law Lauren, Eric's brother Dan, and their son Will. We had a blast, watching old home videos of the kids and eating some darn good burgers. Will stepped in dog poo and had poop all over his new shoes and pants - Elle is STILL talking about it today. The kids play so well together and when you are in a room filled with their laughter - how can any negativity be in there. Well there isn't. I love MY family. Here is Elle and Will reading books and being their goofy Waterkotte selves.
Will and Elle
Well that was our Sunday - filled with friends and fun. I wanted to end with a pic of Wes - he is 8 months you guys - YES I KNOW 8 months....
